When everyone started to use Facebook, I honestly thought it was just playing around and refused to get involved. I did not see the value of using this social media until recently. Now I feel I am behind and need to catch up as everyone else is realizing success from promoting each other. I realize it is a great opportunity to connect with people and cross-promote. Thank you for some great suggestions.

Hey Kelly! Thanks! I have to tell you I just picked up my first GoPro Hero HD camera a few days ago. A couple things. First of all...it is an amazing little camera. But, keep in mind that it shoots in a "fisheye" mode...which looks awesome for certain things but can be a little limiting. Also, it doesn't have a mic input and when it is in the mount getting good audio is challenging. This doesn't take anything away from the camera though. It rocks. Just not perfect for all situations. You will want to purchase the LCD screen addition for doing destination videos too. It doesn't have a built in LCD screen. Tack on another 80 bucks. I have also seen that the suction cup base is awesome and I would highly recommend it as a versatile addition. Depending on what kind of video you want to produce the GoPro is a great tool to add to the arsenal. I would however make sure you have a second camera similar to the Kodak zi8 (that has a mic input) for shooting, I am going to do more experimenting this weekend combining the GoPro and a Stereo audio recorder. It is just a matter of getting the right mix to tools. I have already tested it quite a bit. You can see a few on my YouTube channel. http://www.youtube.com/benevolentexperiment Just look at my most recent uploads. Have fun shooting and good luck! The first step is getting out there and shooting! Don't forget to channel your inner tripod! :) I am glad you found the post useful. Thanks for commenting! B

Hey Brian - Great post. Thanks so much for sharing. I am looking at doing some video and was about to purchase a cheap Flip Cam, but after looking at the GoPro video, I was quite impressed. I went on their website and am a little confused by all of the Tech Specs, so I am going to have to do a little research to figure out what all I really need.

Anyway, thanks again for sharing. Very helpful!

Hey John, I haven't run across a free software program (pre-installed) for PC like iMovie yet. I am recent convert to Mac (only a couple weeks ago) so I feel your PC pain. The closest thing I have seen for PC that is iMovie-like would have to be Sony's Vegas software. I have read several good reviews about it so maybe you could try the free trial available on their website. Finding usable software that didn't break the bank, destroy my PC or that wasn't overly complex was always my biggest challenge. I have worked with several programs over the years with mediocre results. In all honesty...a lot of my pain was remedied by the recent switch to Mac. Especially for someone with little "technical" experience and that is focused on producing user-generated content not Oscar-winning films.

So in other words: Macs Make My Movies Makeable. :)
